Embracing New Beginnings: A Warm Welcome to the 2024/25 FHSS Cohort at Chuka University

Welcome, 2024/25 FHSS Cohort!
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) at Chuka University, in a special way, welcomed our new first-year students in an engaging orientation led by our Dean, Dr. Christopher Kiboro. The event was also attended by the Chairpersons of Departments, Dr. Christine Achieng’ (Department of Humanities) and Dr. Monicah Oundo (Department of Social Sciences), alongside various Section Heads, the Faculty Student Representative, and fellow students.
The first years had the chance to interact with members of the Faculty, during this encouraging encounter. The students expressed excitement about their courses and discovered the broad range of opportunities and programs offered by FHSS.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a wide range of academic programs that reflect our niche area—Training and Research on Historical and Contemporary Human Behaviour and Interaction within Social, Cultural, Economic, Political, and Environmental Contexts. The Faculty brings together experts from diverse disciplines, including Criminology and Security Studies, Sociology, Economics, History, Geography, Linguistics, Literature, Kiswahili, Psychology, Community Development, Government and International Relations, Social Work, Project Planning and Management, Disaster Management, Information Science, Media and Communication, Religious Studies, and Philosophy.
These disciplines offer broad and remarkable opportunities for students to advance their knowledge and specialize in the fields of their choice. Our study programs are carefully developed by discipline experts to fulfill the academic needs of learners.
We are glad to have the new members of the FHSS community and wishing them the best of luck as they embark on this exciting academic journey!
