Dr. Kiboro’s Courtesy Call to Devki Group Chairman, Dr. Narendra Raval

In an encouraging move towards enhancing student welfare and academic collaboration, Dr. Kiboro, Dean FHSS, paid a courtesy call to Dr. Narendra Raval (Guru), Founder and Executive Chairman of The Devki Group of Companies.

During the discussion which marked the beginning of a promising partnership focused on bridging academia and industry, Dr. Raval committed to fostering a robust partnership with the University. He highlighted the importance of networking with various industrial companies to create attachment, internship, and employment opportunities for students. Dr. Raval emphasized that such collaborations are crucial for providing practical experience and career development for students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the job market upon graduation.

Additionally, Dr. Raval expressed his interest to visit the University in the upcoming September-December session to deliver a network-career based talk. This event aims to enrich the institution by offering students insights into the industry and practical career advice, enhancing their educational experience.

Accompanying the Dean on this significant visit was Mr. Ibrahim Mulinge, the University’s Chief Security Officer. Their tour was part of the preparatory activities for the inaugural FHSS Research Conference, scheduled for July 11th and 12th, 2024. This conference aims to foster research collaborations and showcase innovative academic work within the faculty.
Dr. Narendra also donated his best-selling book titled “Guru: A Long Walk to Success.” Co-authored with Kailash Mota, showing his autobiography details Dr. Raval’s remarkable journey from his humble beginnings in a small village in Gujarat, India, to becoming one of East Africa’s leading industrialists. The book chronicles his experiences, challenges, and triumphs as he built the Devki Group of Companies, a major conglomerate in the steel, cement, and other manufacturing industries.

The commitment from Dr. Raval and The Devki Group of Companies signifies a noteworthy step towards integrating academic learning with industry practices, ultimately benefiting the students and enhancing the University’s academic stature.
