Chuka University Eco-Stat Club Hosts 2nd Edition of the Tech, Innovation, and Governance Debate

The Chuka University Eco-Stat Club successfully organized the 2nd Edition of the Tech, Innovation, and Governance Debate, a landmark event held on Friday, March 21, 2025. The event, themed “Good Governance is the Backbone of Effective Policy Implementation,” brought together students, policymakers, and industry experts for a thought-provoking discourse on the intersection of governance, technology, and policy implementation.
This year’s debate attracted participants from Chuka University, The University of Embu, and Tharaka University, fostering inter-university collaboration and intellectual exchange. The event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and debates that emphasized the critical role of governance in achieving effective and sustainable policy outcomes.
Experts from government, academia, and the private sector shared insights on the significance of transparency, accountability, and innovation-driven governance in an era of rapid technological advancement. They highlighted how good governance serves as a catalyst for national development by fostering ethical leadership and strategic policymaking.

The event was graced by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), Prof. Christopher Kiboro, who was joined by faculty members from the Economics and Statistics Section, including Patrons Md. Mirriam Thuo and Mr. Sammy Irungu. In his remarks, Prof. Kiboro commended the Eco-Stat Club for their commitment to organizing impactful, student-led initiatives that provide practical learning experiences and foster professional development.
