Pamela Apuko Shines at the National Climate Innovation Summit

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to celebrate one of its own, Pamela Apuko, a Community Development (CDEV) student whose innovation is transforming lives.
Pamela, the founder of Grassroot Development Organisation Kenya (GRADO), began her journey in her third year at Chuka University. Her groundbreaking project—safe sanitary pads made from banana fibre—is currently being incubated at the Chuka University Technology and Innovation Support Centre.
This innovation recently took centre stage at the Kenya National Climate Action Innovation Summit held on 7th–8th at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), hosted by the Organisation for Youth Africa. Among dozens of outstanding innovators, Pamela’s project emerged Best Innovation, earning national recognition. The exhibition was graced by PS Trade, Ms. Regina Ombam, as the Guest Speaker.
Commending Pamela’s achievement, the Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, hailed it as “a clear symbol of the Community Flourishing Masterclass”, underscoring the Faculty’s commitment to nurturing ideas that make a real difference in society.
Pamela’s success is a shining example of the power of grassroots innovation and the impact of student-driven change.
