The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Chuka University, Prof. Christopher Kiboro, is currently attending the prestigious DIES International Deans’ Course (IDC): Africa 2025/2026, Part I, being held from June 16–27, 2025, at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
This intensive training programme brings together deans from across the African continent and aims to build institutional capacity and foster international collaboration in higher education. Prof. Kiboro joins academic leaders from diverse countries to engage in insightful discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and high-level exchanges with global scholars.
During the programme, Prof. Kiboro had the privilege of meeting the Mayor of Osnabrück, alongside the Vice-President of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Kathrin Loer, and Prof. Kai Handel, the programme director of the International Deans’ Course and former Vice-President for Organization and Management at the university. The meetings offered valuable opportunities for Prof. Kiboro to gain deeper insights into international best practices in higher education.
The programme covers a wide range of critical topics including:
- Higher Education Systems in Germany and Africa
- Leadership and Quality Management
- Governance Systems and Project Management
- Strategic Faculty Management
- Change Management, Internationalization, and Conflict Management
As part of the course, Prof. Kiboro will present his institutional project on 24 June 2025, sharing Chuka University’s best practices and exploring ways to implement new ideas for institutional improvement.
The training also features keynote speakers and facilitators from across Europe and Africa, creating a dynamic space for academic exchange. Prof. Kiboro’s participation affirms Chuka University’s commitment to quality education and global partnerships. Upon returning, he is expected to utilize the insights gained to further advance the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and foster a culture of excellence and international collaboration at Chuka University.
